COMPANY HISTORY
Scalora was founded in 1973 by Peter Scalora Sr. as a small-scale landscape maintenance company employing a single pickup truck. His sons, Michael and Peter Scalora, took over the family business in the early 1990’s, expanding their scope of services to include landscape construction and ornamental planting. The Scalora brothers inherited their father’s strong work ethic, expertise, attention to detail, and customer relationships, as is evidenced by our loyal client base, some of whom have been with Scalora for 50+ years.

Since then, Scalora has evolved into a robust 10-crew operation with 300+ residential/commercial maintenance accounts and a resume of countless projects installed throughout North Jersey. Scalora places great emphasis on training and mentoring our employees, where many of our skilled foreman and laborers have been with the company for 20-30+ years.

As contractors dedicated to sound design principles and the elevation of their craft, the Scalora brothers have understood the value of employing the services of a licensed landscape architect since the time of their initial expansion. For over 30 years, Scalora has operated as a design-build outfit qualified to serve the project needs of our clients in nearly all aspects of landscape architecture and construction.

Michael Scalora | Owner
Michael Scalora, President of Scalora Landscaping Services Inc., oversees the company’s landscape planting, maintenance, and lighting services. With over 35 years in the industry, Michael offers a wealth of horticultural knowledge that is passed along to our clients. He has personally trained his expert foremen, many of whom have been with Scalora for over 25 years.

Michael’s high standard for workmanship, attention to detail, efficiency, quality control, responsiveness, and execution are traits that have built a loyal customer base dating back over 50 years to the inception of the Scalora family business.

Peter Scalora | Owner
Peter Scalora, President of Scalora Brothers Inc., manages all landscape construction field operations. As an owner/operator with over 35 years of experience, Peter directly supervises his foremen who have worked alongside him for decades. Peter draws on his expertise to meet client needs and expectations through creative solutions that are functional, aesthetically pleasing, and stand the test of time.
Quality craftsmanship, ingenuity, and open communication are the guiding principles of Peter’s ability to effectively collaborate with his customers and create outdoor spaces that can be enjoyed for years to come.

Erik Rowan | Landscape Architect
Erik Rowan is Licensed Landscape Architect in Responsible Charge at Scalora, with over 13 years in the profession. Erik has a broad range of experience involving a wide variety of project types. He specializes in nearly all aspects of landscape construction, planting, lighting, and irrigation design, with additional focus on site analysis, grading, stormwater management, and landscape ecology.

Erik has extensive formal training under licensed landscape architects, urban planners, civil engineers, water resources engineers, and land surveyors. Erik also has experience providing professional plan check services for various government agencies and is equipped to effectively coordinate with municipalities on behalf of the client to obtain permits through zoning, building, and engineering departments as needed. Erik offers a highly technical background and personalized service to Scalora’s clients, centered around constructability, aesthetics, user experience, and value engineering.

Cristina Marinoni | Landscape Designer
Cristina Marinoni is a Certified Landscape Designer who’s been with Scalora for over 25 years. As an expert in ornamental planting, horticulture, and site design, Cristina applies her background as a visual artist and sculptor to create landscapes that are visually stunning and provide a strong sense of place. Cristina prides herself on her long-standing client relationships, collaborative approach, and ability to produce cohesive landscape plans that elegantly achieve the goals and vision of the project.
